Procedure Details
Abdominoplasty, or tummy tuck surgery, may be considered when excess abdominal skin and tissue remain after pregnancy, significant weight change or ageing. It is not a weight-loss operation and is planned around skin excess, abdominal wall anatomy and overall body contour.
Through a low abdominal incision, excess skin and tissue are removed and the abdominal wall may be tightened. The umbilicus is repositioned in a full abdominoplasty. Variations such as mini, extended or fleur-de-lis abdominoplasty may be appropriate for different patterns of skin excess.
Follow up
Wound/dressing review at around 1 week; surgeon review at around 2 weeks
