Procedure Details
Breast reduction may be considered when breast size contributes to physical discomfort, difficulty with activity or clothing, or dissatisfaction with breast proportion. The operation is planned around breast size, shape, skin quality and the amount of reduction required.
Excess breast tissue, fat and skin are removed through planned incisions and the remaining breast is reshaped. The nipple and areola are usually repositioned while maintaining their blood supply, although technique varies with the degree of reduction.
Follow up
Wound/dressing review at 7-10 days; surgeon review at around 4-8 weeks.
