Procedure Details
Nipple reconstruction is a surgical procedure designed to recreate the shape and projection of the nipple, most commonly following breast surgery or trauma, helping to restore a more natural appearance to the breast.
Nipple reconstruction is typically performed using local tissue from the breast to create a new nipple mound, with the technique tailored to the individual’s anatomy and previous surgery. It is often carried out as a minor surgical procedure under local anaesthetic, although this can vary depending on the wider treatment plan. The aim is to achieve a natural-looking shape and projection while keeping scarring as discreet as possible. Swelling, bruising and tenderness are common during the early healing period, and further treatment such as areola tattooing may be considered once the area has fully healed.
